Basketball Recap: Lexington Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

Lexington had won two straight home games and Kamari McDonald did his part to make it three on Thursday. The Lexington Yellowjackets secured a 53-49 W over the Morehead Panthers thanks in part to McDonald, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

Morehead's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Bigelow, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. Bigelow is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last five games he's played. Josiah Thomas was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

The victory got Lexington back to even at 7-7. As for Morehead, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Lexington has already played their next contest, a 97-72 win against East Davidson on the 24th. As for Morehead, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against McMichael at 5:00 p.m. Morehead is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.7 points per game this season.
