Forreston had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders on Monday as the Forreston Cardinals made off with a 16-3 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cardinals also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Carson Akins was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. Alec Schoonhoven was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Forreston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ashton-Franklin Center only posted a batting average of .217.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Forreston Cardinals take on Byron Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ashton-Franklin Center, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on Earlville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
