Baseball Recap: Combs Comes Up Short

Combs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Poston Butte Broncos. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Broncos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-6 on Tuesday.

Combs saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angus Brumbaugh, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Hector Ruelas also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Combs' defeat dropped their record down to 2-8-2. As for Poston Butte, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Combs will take on rival Crismon at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Poston Butte is set to challenge their familiar foe ALA - Gilbert North at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
