Murray came into Tuesday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with an 11-6 win over the Hillcrest Huskies on Tuesday. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Huskies, too.
Savana Whitlock made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Whitlock was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Murray got a massive performance out of Zaylee Winterhalder, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Winterhalder hit this season. Another player making a difference was Maddie Bigelow, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Murray was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Murray's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Hillcrest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murray will head out to challenge Jordan at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Murray is facing Jordan at the right time seeing as Jordan is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Hillcrest, they will head out on the road to square off against Skyline at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
