James Buchanan fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against West Perry on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 14-13. Even though they lost, the Rockets' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Jake Miller and Bryson Bennett did some serious damage despite the final result: Miller went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Bennett went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Parker Summers, who went 2-for-6 with two runs and one stolen base.

James Buchanan moved to 8-5-1 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for West Perry, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. James Buchanan will head out to challenge McConnellsburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rockets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for West Perry, they are taking a road trip to face off against Bermudian Springs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
