Baseball Recap: Thief River Falls' Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

After low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Thief River Falls brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They blew past the Crookston Pirates 15-8 on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Prowlers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Dylan Osowski looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025.

At the plate, Thief River Falls got a massive performance out of Casey Nelson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Nelson a new career-high. Cole Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Thief River Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Thief River Falls' win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-7. As for Crookston, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Looking ahead, Thief River Falls will square off against East Grand Forks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crookston, they will venture away from home to square off against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
