Harding Academy took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday (barely). They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Des Arc Eagles 3-1.
For Des Arc's part, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee McDonald, who went 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. McDonald has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive pitching appearances.
Des Arc's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harding Academy will face off against Lisa Academy North at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Des Arc, they are on the road again on Monday to play Hazen at 4:30 p.m. Des Arc's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Hazen's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
