Basketball Recap: Kinley Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Reeves over Midland

After flying high against Plainview on Friday, Reeves came back down to earth. The Raiders fell 59-51 to the Midland Rebels on Monday. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Reeves lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kinley Smith, who shot 40% from the field to rack up 17 points and eight rebounds. Her big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Richard, who posted 15 points and four steals.

Reeves moved to 6-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Midland, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Reeves has already played their next game, an 80-54 win against St. Louis Catholic on the 25th. As for Midland, they will head out on the road to take on Lacassine at 6:00 p.m. on December 2.
