Softball Game Preview: Westbrook Blue Blazes vs. Thornton Academy Trojans

Westbrook is 0-7 against Thornton Academy since May of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Blue Blazes will be playing at home against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. Westbrook has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Westbrook lost 17-2 to Windham on Thursday. The Blue Blazes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Westbrook saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elyse Broad, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, while it was Thornton Academy who put the first runs on the board on Friday, it was Bonny Eagle who put up more. The Trojans fell just short of the Scots by a score of 5-4. The Trojans have struggled against the Scots recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Emma Barnes was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sophia Bogardus, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Westbrook's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Thornton Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
