Even if things were shuffled around here and there, the power rankings for this week won't seem too unfamiliar if you've been following along. Don't let that fool you into thinking nothing interesting happened, though. We'll dive into that and more in this week's report.
Welcome
The power rankings welcomes a newcomer to the scene as Kaimuki earned the 24th spot after its strong showing last week. It took its game against Kaiser by a confident 46 - 21 score. Kaimuki's offense might have been extra motivated to turn things around after difficulties scoring in its previous game.
Look Out Below
Farrington put forth a good scoring effort last week and even improved upon it this week, but that didn't prove quite enough. It was close but not close enough as it fell 28 - 25 to Wai'anae. Given its troubles on the defensive side (averaging 47 allowed points per game), Wai'anae must have known that it would have to bring in some offensive vigor. The rough outing dragged Farrington down two positions in the power rankings -- the largest fall of the week.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another outing, another win last week for the team with the longest stretch of success (seven consecutive games). St. Francis breezed past Kalaheo with a final score of 40 - 6. Hopefully the win is satisfying enough on its own since St. Francis actually slipped one place in the power rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Kapolei (7th in the power rankings) and Mililani (2nd). Mililani is backed by a win while Kapolei is motivated by a recent defeat. We'll see if Mililani can add another positive mark to its record or if Kapolei can shake off its loss and take the spring out of Mililani's step.
