The Colony is 2-8 against Lone Star since August of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Rangers at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
The Colony came up short against Creekview on Friday, falling 3-0.
The Colony took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-16, 25-23.
The losing side was boosted by Bonnitra Donnell, who had 20 digs.
Meanwhile, Lone Star didn't have quite enough to beat Wakeland on Friday and fell 3-2.
Lone Star started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 24-26, 23-25, 25-22, 25-10, 15-12.
The Colony will have to keep a close watch on Kaitlyn Smith and Kyler Birkelbach, a pair of players who had a big impact on Lone Star's prior game. Smith had 21 assists and ten digs, while Birkelbach had 17 digs and one block.
The Colony's defeat dropped their record down to 8-21. As for Lone Star, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.
The Colony suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Lone Star in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
