Soccer Recap: Hawkins Takes a Loss

Hawkins and Contreras squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Hawkins had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Contreras Cobras by a score of 4-3. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Hawks came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 409th, while the Cobras are ranked 895th).

Hawkins' defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Contreras, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-11.

Hawkins does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Contreras, they are taking a road trip to face off against Burton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Burton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.4 goals per game this season.
