Basketball Game Preview: Plainview Pirates vs. Ponca Indians

Plainview is 0-4 against Ponca since February of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The two teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. without much rest, having both just played. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Ponca will be up against a hot Plainview team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Pirates enjoyed a cozy 59-44 victory over Wisner-Pilger on Monday. That looming 59-44 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Pirates yet this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ponca). They took their matchup on Monday with ease, bagging a 100-8 win over Santee. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Warriors are ranked 262nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory got Plainview back to even at 4-4. As for Ponca, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Plainview ended up a good deal behind Ponca in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, losing 39-25. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
