Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Lorain

Lorain entered their tilt with Elyria on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They secured a 64-60 W over the Elyria Pioneers. The win was all the more spectacular given the Titans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while the Pioneers are ranked 129th).

Despite the loss, Elyria still got an impressive performance from Taylor Blanton, who went 11 of 23 on his way to 29 points. The dominant performance gave Blanton a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendyll Compton, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.

Lorain pushed their record up to 4-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Elyria, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3.

Lorain will head out to take on Bedford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Elyria, they will host Avon Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Elyria is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 70 points per game this season.
