Softball Game Preview: Pleasant Ridge Rams vs. Horton Chargers

The Pleasant Ridge Rams are taking a road trip to square off against the Horton Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Pleasant Ridge is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 17th straight game dating back to last season last Monday. They fell 18-15 to Troy.

Emily Goodson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Heim, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Horton). They blew past Marais des Cygnes Valley 17-10 on Monday. With that win, the Chargers brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Horton got a massive performance out of Laila Pahmahmie, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave Pahmahmie a new career-high in doubles (two). Natalia Keo was another key player, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Horton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .615. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Horton's record is now 2-4. As for Pleasant Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Pleasant Ridge came up short against Horton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 10-7. Can Pleasant Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
