Basketball Preview: Arapahoe Warriors vs. Cambridge Trojans

Arapahoe is 2-8 against the Trojans since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Arapahoe Warriors will look to defend their home court against the Cambridge Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Arapahoe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Saturday.

Last Saturday, Arapahoe didn't have too much trouble with the Falcons on the road as they won 58-43. The win made it back-to-back wins for Arapahoe.

Arapahoe's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Trenton Roskop, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists, and Kade Fisher, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Fisher continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Gage Gooden was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, Cambridge's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 65-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Patrick's. Cambridge has struggled against the Irish recently, as their match on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Cambridge had strong showings from Brady Ahlemeyer, who scored 12 points along with four steals, and Carson Trompke, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Maverick Webb, who scored six points.

Arapahoe now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Cambridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Arapahoe have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Cambridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Arapahoe came up short against the Trojans when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 48-40. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Trompke, who scored 21 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Now that Arapahoe knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
