Softball Recap: Pequea Valley Braves vs. Annville-Cleona Dutchmen
Pequea Valley extended their losing streak to seven on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-10 in the process. They came up short against the Annville-Cleona Dutchmen, falling 10-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dutchmen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-3 on April 7th.
As for Annville-Cleona, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Dutchmen, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
For Annville-Cleona's part, Temperence Brubaker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Brubaker has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Danika Setlock was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Wagner, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Looking ahead, Pequea Valley will welcome Columbia at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Annville-Cleona, they are taking a road trip to take on Kutztown at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
