North Wilkes had won nine straight on the road, but on Wednesday they bumped up to 21-4 to make it ten. They had just enough and edged out the Ashe County Huskies 3-2. The game was the first time the Vikings have beaten the Huskies on their court since October 2, 2018.

As for Ashe County, their loss ended a 12-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 24-8. Huskies fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against North Wilkes since Wednesday.

Ashe County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jose Cheek, who had 14 digs and two aces. She has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last seven times she's played. Gracie Finley was another key player, getting 28 digs, 16 kills, and one block.

As of now, neither North Wilkes nor Ashe County have any future games scheduled.
