After losing to Central Valley the last time they met, Hilmar decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Hilmar Yellowjackets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Central Valley Hawks on Monday.

Emma Gomes was a standout: she scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Paftyn Pajela was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

Hilmar kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Hilmar now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Central Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Coming up, Hilmar will take on Atwater at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Central Valley, they will face off against Downey at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
