Recap: Athens Golden Eagles vs. Midfield Patriots
After soaring to 55 points the game before, the Athens Golden Eagles were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They lost to Midfield on the road by a decisive 41-22 margin. Athens was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Midfield apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2017.
Midfield found their leader in underclassman Kamiya Webb, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Webb is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Jazmin Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists.
Athens' loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Midfield, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.
Athens will head out on the road to face off against Helena at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Helena is ranked 227th, while Athens is ranked 252nd). Midfield will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against South Forsyth at 1:00 p.m. on December 23rd.
