J'ziyah Munford leads a balanced attack to beat Weeki Wachee

The Springstead Eagles had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.9 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Wednesday. They walked away with a 30-18 win over Weeki Wachee. That's another feather in the cap for Springstead, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Springstead's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but J'ziyah Munford led the charge by scoring 15 points along with five steals. Munford has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Samantha Suarez was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Weeki Wachee lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Marlee Schumacher, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Joelys Rodriguez, who scored seven points along with three steals.

Springstead pushed their record up to 14-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Weeki Wachee, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-7.

Springstead will head out on the road to challenge Nature Coast Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Nature Coast Tech will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Springstead is ranked 103rd). Weeki Wachee won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Citrus at 5:00 p.m. on January 18th. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Demi Williamson and Paige Atwater.
