Basketball Recap: Tysean Turner Key Part of a Team Effort in Blackhawks Win

After losing to Beaumont the last time they met, Citrus Valley decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Citrus Valley Blackhawks walked away with a 52-41 win over the Beaumont Cougars on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blackhawks.

Citrus Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tysean Turner out in front who went 6 for 11 en route to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Carmine Amaya, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 16 points and five boards.

Citrus Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive contests.

Citrus Valley's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-12. As for Beaumont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Citrus Valley will venture away from home to face off against Cajon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Beaumont, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Beaumont Cougars face off against the Redlands East Valley Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Redlands East Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Beaumont likes a good challenge.
