Soccer Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Kennedy

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Kennedy had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They never let the Reseda Regents get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given the Cougars' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 472nd in California, while the Regents are ranked 211th in California).

Kennedy's one-goal win came courtesy of Miguel Arias, which was the first he's scored this season.

Kennedy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-13. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Reseda, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-7 record.

Looking ahead, Kennedy will challenge Huntington Park at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. Kennedy's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end. Reseda does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
