Preview: Roane County Raiders vs. Mingo Central Miners

The Roane County Raiders will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Mingo Central Miners at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th. Roane County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Mingo Central likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Roane County humbled Braxton County with a 54-7 victory. The result was nothing new for Roane County, who have now won six matches by 23 points or more so far this season.

Roane County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacob Greathouse led the charge by throwing for 104 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Clay Walker also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Mingo Central beat Point Pleasant 20-14 two weeks ago.

Dylan Vance was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 163 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Vance was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards.

Mingo Central's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Alex Muncy and his two sacks.

Roane County's victory was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.6 points per game. Mingo Central has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven games, giving them a 6-1 record.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Roane County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 302.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mingo Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 212.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
