Baseball Recap: Howe Comes Up Short

Howe fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Whitesboro on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bearcats by a score of 10-9. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bearcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2025.

Will Wilson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Wilson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Rylan Strong was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Samson Blake was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Howe's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Whitesboro, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Howe will head out to square off against Bonham at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Whitesboro, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against City View at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday.
