Softball Game Preview: Johnson Bayou Rebels vs. South Cameron Tarpons

Johnson Bayou is 0-3 against South Cameron since March of 2024 but things could change on Tuesday. The Johnson Bayou Rebels will look to defend their home field against the South Cameron Tarpons at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Johnson Bayou is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They lost 20-4 to Elton.

Meanwhile, South Cameron didn't have quite enough to beat Hackberry on Thursday and fell 19-17. The defeat continues a trend for the Tarpons in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost seven in a row.

Emma Hebert put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and 18 unearned) runs off six hits. Hebert was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Claire Baccigalopi and Peyton Conner did some serious damage despite the final result: Baccigalopi scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4, while Conner scored four runs while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Conner a new career-high in RBI (three). Carlee Doxey was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Johnson Bayou might still be hurting after the 23-0 loss they got from South Cameron in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Johnson Bayou avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
