Softball Recap: Belmont Comes Up Short

Belmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bedford Buccaneers. The Marauders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Buccaneers from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

Olivia Ormond put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Guiliana Mastrangelo was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Belmont's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Bedford, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Belmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bedford, they will challenge Westport at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
