Baseball Game Preview: Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns vs. Hargrave Falcons

The Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns will take on the Hargrave Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hamshire-Fannett's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. They came out on top against Shepherd by a score of 4-0. The Longhorns haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The result came thanks to Carter Romero's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hamshire-Fannett secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Jacob Grammer, who went 1-for-2 with two runs. That's the most runs Grammer has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Hargrave put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Thursday. Everything went their way against Shepherd as they made off with a 9-0 victory.

Logan Gruber looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on KJ Daniel, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Nixon, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Hargrave has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hamshire-Fannett, their victory bumped their record up to 4-15.
