Softball Recap: Washington County Wins Going Away Against Chickasaw

Washington County won the last time they faced Chickasaw and things went their way on Thursday too. Washington County put the hurt on Chickasaw with a sharp 18-3 victory.

Sadie Thornton was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed over her last five matches. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Turner, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Rylee Snow was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Washington County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .781. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chickasaw only posted an OBP of .385.

Washington County's record is now 10-11. As for Chickasaw, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3-1 record this season.

Washington County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-4 loss against Leroy on the 28th. As for Chickasaw, they will head out on the road to face off against Blacksher at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
