Basketball Recap: Coppell Piles Up the Points Against Midway

While Coppell didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Midway Panthers 96-32. The game marked the Cowboys' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Evan Gerig, who posted nine points. Gerig is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 43% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ty Brown, who had nine points.

The win made it two in a row for Coppell and bumps their season record up to 8-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 92.5 points over those games. As for Midway, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Coppell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 59-32 win against Georgetown on the 5th. As for Midway, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-57 victory against Hanks on the 5th.
