Football Recap: Quentyn Demara's Big Game Can't Quite Lead University City over Central + How To Watch

University City and Central squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but University City had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 44-42. The Centurions gained 51 more yards on the day, but it was the Spartans that made the best use of them.

University City lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Quentyn DeMara, who threw for 179 yards and three TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 101 yards and one score on only 14 carries. He has become a key player for University City: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 4-5 otherwise. Deshaun Hille was another key player, rushing for 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry.

It was another big night for Matthew Lizaola, who rushed for 269 yards and five scores while picking up 8.2 yards per carry for Central. Those five rushing touchdowns gave Lizaola a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Fidel Jr Camarena, who rushed for 87 yards and one TD.

University City's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Central, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-2.

University City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Central, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 28-14 loss against Christian on the 29th.
