Baseball Recap: Ransom Everglades Wins Going Away Against Riviera Prep

Ransom Everglades hadn't done well against Riviera Prep recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Everything went the Ransom Everglades Raiders' way against the Riviera Prep Bulldogs as the Ransom Everglades Raiders made off with an 11-1 win. Considering the Raiders have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Mason Lastra was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Juan Velazco was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Justin Kaplan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Ransom Everglades always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Ransom Everglades is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. Riviera Prep dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Ransom Everglades will take on Bloomington at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. Ransom Everglades' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Bloomington's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Riviera Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on David Posnack Jewish Day at 3:30 p.m. on March 31st.
