Basketball Recap: Oakleaf Comes Up Short

Oakleaf played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 57-23 loss at the hands of the Tocoi Creek Toros. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 184th, while the Toros are ranked 48th).

Tocoi Creek was led to victory by Gabi Iturralde and Audrey Beyer. Iturralde went 8 of 15 on her way to 19 points, while Beyer posted ten points and four blocks. Iturralde is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Asiana McCreary, who earned six points and seven boards.

Oakleaf has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season. As for Tocoi Creek, they pushed their record up to 14-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Oakleaf does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tocoi Creek, they and Nease will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Tocoi Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season.
