Football Recap: Strong Performance on D from Ja Mee Jones and Jalaigh Brooks Leads Canyon Springs over Rancho

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Canyon Springs ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They managed a 12-6 victory over the Rancho Rams. This was payback for the Pioneers, who suffered a 25-19 loss the last time these two teams met.

Canyon Springs found their leader in sophomore Keyanah Miller-Tureaud, who rushed for 155 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries. Those 155 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Miller-Tureaud.

With the win, Canyon Springs broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-8. As for Rancho, they dropped their record down to 3-14 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canyon Springs will head out to face off against Desert Pines at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Canyon Springs is facing Desert Pines at the right time seeing as Desert Pines is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
