Baseball Recap: New London Takes a Loss

New London was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 13-2 to the Wellington Dukes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dukes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-3 on Saturday.

New London saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joe Gum, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that Gum brought in this season.

New London's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Wellington, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New London will square off against Mapleton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wellington, they will be playing at home against Columbia at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dukes 3.7, the Raiders 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
