Basketball Recap: Cambridge Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Cambridge won the last time they faced Bertrand, and Mallory Springer did her part to make sure it happened again. The Cambridge Trojans walked away with a 50-42 win over the Bertrand Vikings on Thursday thanks in part to Springer, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Bertrand's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklyn Evans, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 18 points along with six boards and three steals. Evans has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Schoene, who went 5 for 12 en route to 10 points and six steals.

Cambridge is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for Bertrand, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Cambridge will have a chance to go back-to-back against Bertrand: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
