Softball Game Preview: Susquehannock Warriors vs. Dover Eagles

The Susquehannock Warriors will face off against the Dover Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Susquehannock's pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so Dover's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Susquehannock will face Dover after dropping another heartbreaker against Kennard-Dale on Friday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within two of beating them. The Warriors fell just short of the Rams by a score of 2-0. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Ella Wetzel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Susquehannock saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nora Salla, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. Salla is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, Dover won against West York Area on Wednesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Eagles skirted past Eastern York 7-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Susquehannock's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Dover, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-5.
