Vernon-Verona-Sherrill had won six straight games and Nolan Wood did his part to make it seven on Tuesday. The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils came out on top against the Rome Free Academy Black Knights by a score of 3-1 thanks in part to Wood, who had 37 assists and six digs. Wood is crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season.

Vernon-Verona-Sherrill walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-27, 25-13, 25-19.

Rome Free Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ilija Wenz, who had 18 kills, 11 digs, three blocks, and two aces. Elijah Pomales was another key player, getting nine digs, three aces, and one block.

Vernon-Verona-Sherrill's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Rome Free Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
