Basketball Game Preview: Central Plains Oilers vs. St. John Tigers

The Central Plains Oilers will head out to face off against the St. John Tigers on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Central Plains will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Otis-Bison on Tuesday. Central Plains blew past Otis-Bison 57-28. Given the Oilers' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Cougars are ranked 316th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. John). They breezed by Chase to the tune of 90-20 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Central Plains has also been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.2 points per game. As for St. John, they pushed their record up to 12-3-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
