Soccer Game Preview: Imperial vs. Southwest EC

The Imperial Tigers will challenge the Southwest EC Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Imperial will be strutting in after a win while Southwest EC will be coming in after a defeat.

Imperial's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Holtville by a score of 2-0. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 416th, while the Vikings are ranked 870th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Carlo Osuna and Aaron Sanchez scored both of Imperial's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 16 goals.

Meanwhile, Southwest EC was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Calexico, falling 4-0.

Southwest EC's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-2. As for Imperial, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-1-1 and their overall record up to 11-4-6.

Imperial came out on top in a nail-biter against Southwest EC when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Does Imperial have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southwest EC turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
