Baseball Recap: Monroe Catholic Comes Up Short

Monroe Catholic was the 19-8 winner over Palmer when they last played one another back in June of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Rams lost 9-3 to the Moose on Friday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brian Bast was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Landon MacNaughton made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Monroe Catholic's record is now 0-5-1. As for Palmer, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Looking ahead, Monroe Catholic is taking a road trip to square off against Grace Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Palmer, they will host Homer at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Mariners' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Moose's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
