Soccer Game Preview: Auburn vs. James River

The Auburn Eagles will head out to square off against the James River Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Auburn has four straight victories, James River has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

James River better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Auburn's game on Thursday is any indication, that's when Auburn really gets things going. Everything went the Eagles' way against George Wythe as they made off with a 4-0 win. The result was nothing new for Auburn, who have now won six games by four goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for James River's offense. They came up short against Carroll County on Monday, falling 4-0.

James River's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Auburn, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3-3.

Auburn took their win against James River when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 5-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
