Basketball Game Preview: Putnam City Pirates vs. Deer Creek Antlers

Putnam City hasn't had much luck against Deer Creek recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Putnam City Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the Deer Creek Antlers at 6:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Putnam City took a blow against Mustang, falling 66-29. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while the Broncos are ranked 19th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Deer Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 74-45 victory over Grant. The Antlers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 24 points or more this season.

Deer Creek has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points over those games. As for Putnam City, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Putnam City and Deer Creek were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January, but Putnam City came up empty-handed after a 65-64 defeat. Can Putnam City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
