Basketball Recap: Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets vs. Worthington Kilbourne Wolves
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mt. Vernon can now relate to. They fell 53-41 to the Worthington Kilbourne Wolves on Friday. The Yellowjackets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wolves from their previous meeting back in December of 2015.
Worthington Kilbourne was led to victory by Audrey Bennett and Riley Wilkinson. Bennett posted 14 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists, while Wilkinson put up 14 points and six steals. Bennett has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Williams, who earned eight points and three steals.
Mt. Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Worthington Kilbourne, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
