Volleyball Recap: Melrose Extends Winning Streak to Six

Melrose waltzed into their match on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Lexington Minutemen. That's more bragging rights for the Red Raiders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Melrose wouldn't go down easily and took Lexington into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 25-5, 15-8.

Leading Melrose to victory were Sabine Wenzel and Sadie Smith. Wenzel had 29 kills, while Smith had 33 assists and 12 digs. Wenzel has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more kills the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Adriana Santoriello, who had 12 kills and six digs.

Melrose's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Lexington, they dropped their record down to 6-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
