Softball Recap: Irvine Comes Up Short

Irvine lost against San Clemente back in March of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Irvine Vaqueros lost 10-4 to the San Clemente Tritons.

Abby Sasaki and Reese Villanueva stepped up to the plate in a big way. Sasaki went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Villanueva scored a run while going 3-for-4. Villanueva has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Mia Vinopal also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Irvine's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for San Clemente, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4-1 record this season.

Irvine will head out on the road to take on Northwood at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. This will be Northwood's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for San Clemente, they will take on Douglas in a tournament on Friday.
