Soccer Game Preview: Mililani vs. Yorba Linda

The Mililani Trojans and the Yorba Linda Mustangs will round out the year against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Mililani's favor is that they have posted at least four goals in their last three contests.

Mililani is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Hawaii's top teams: Leilehua, who was ranked 24th at the time (Mililani was ranked sixth). The Trojans' defense stepped up to hand the Mighty Mules a 4-0 shutout on Friday. Give Mililani's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Meanwhile, Yorba Linda managed to keep up with Santa Margarita until halftime last Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Mustangs might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Eagles an easy 5-1 win. The defeat continues a trend for Yorba Linda in their meetings with Santa Margarita: they've now lost seven in a row.

Mililani is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those six matches. As for Yorba Linda, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2-1.
