Soccer Game Preview: Patterson vs. Oakdale

The Patterson Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Oakdale Mustangs at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Oakdale is hoping to do what Mountain House couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Patterson's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Patterson blew past Mountain House 5-2. It was an even better day for Andrew Diaz as he scored three goals for his team.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last game, Oakdale made sure to put some goals up on the board against Central Catholic on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Raiders as they made off with a 4-1 victory. Jesus Corona had to tread lightly for part of the match after he was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble the Mustangs got from the refs.

Patterson is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-0-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those six matches. As for Oakdale, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Patterson beat Oakdale by a goal in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, winning 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Patterson since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
