Basketball Preview: Springfield Spartans vs. North Vikings
The Springfield Spartans will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the North Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Wednesday, Springfield took a serious blow against the Rockets, falling 62-27. While losing is never fun, Springfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 548th, while the Rockets are ranked 135th).
Meanwhile, North's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Monday after their third straight defeat. They were the victim of a rough 53-29 loss at the hands of Maple Heights.
Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for North, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Springfield against the Vikings when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 49-12 victory. With Springfield ahead 25-4 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
