Softball Game Preview: Farmington Phoenix vs. Skyridge Falcons

The Farmington Phoenix will challenge the Skyridge Falcons at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Farmington has three straight victories, Skyridge has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Farmington gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Brighton 17-5. The Phoenix might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 11 runs or more this season.

Ruby Andrus was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Jane Frey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Andrus wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Farmington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. Farmington is a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Skyridge fell victim to Timpanogos and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 19-0 to the Timberwolves. Falcons fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Timberwolves since on Monday.

Farmington now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Skyridge, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
